PGS x HBS

In 2021, PGS worked closely with HBS for the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers (Matchdays 1-6). Thanks to our network of local Broadcast Venue Managers, we deployed 18 managers on the ground for each match window, ensuring impeccable organisation across several African countries.

This collaboration highlighted our ability to manage broadcast infrastructure for major international events, while ensuring impeccable quality. But what makes this project truly unique is the way we pushed the boundaries of audiovisual production in Africa.

Indeed, PGS managed to produce the first ever remote production match on the African continent, in Equatorial Guinea. This remote production was carried out with a small team on site – consisting of camera operators and a equipment manager – while the rest of the team operated thousands of kilometres away, from our hub in Paris.

This was a major technological breakthrough, not only reducing costs and logistics, but also minimizing environmental impact without compromising broadcast quality.

This experience marked the beginning of a new era for television production in Africa. We see it as a first step towards a future where remote production will become the norm, bringing more flexibility and efficiency to our projects across the continent. By working with HBS, PGS continues to evolve audiovisual production, always looking for new innovative solutions to meet the needs of broadcasters around the world.
